Hock and Pea Soup


Ingredients: 1 big bacon hock, a handful of chopped green beans, 2 cups of frozen peas, 2 bay leaves, 1-2 cups of bone broth, salt, pepper, 1 very finely diced kumara (sweet potato), 2 diced tomatoes water to almost cover the bone.

Steps: Throw all of the ingredients in the-slow cooker and cook on low for 8 hours. Once it has cooked, pull the meat off the bones and removes the bones completely (leave the meat in the soup). Enjoy!

*Go ahead and use an additional hock bone if you want extra bacon! Just be aware that it is a processed meat, and try to get a free-range one with no nasties added. Tricky I know, so maybe just make his a once-in-a-while soup!
